How the end-of-day scanner works

An end-of-day (EOD) scanner runs after the closing bell, when the day's bars are final, and surfaces the stocks that meet your criteria — here, confirmed chart-pattern breakouts and breakouts retesting their level as support. Scanning on the close avoids the noise and false signals of intraday whipsaws: a breakout that holds into the 4:00 p.m. close is a far more reliable signal than one that pops and fades at 11 a.m. It's the natural workflow for swing traders, who do their homework in the evening and place orders for the next session.
